This Saturday May 21st, the New England Revolution will be taking on FC Dallas at Gillette Stadium as part of Rivalry Week in MLS. Kick off is scheduled for 7:30et and Silviu Petrescu will be your man in the middle.
After a gutting six game win-less streak, the Rev’s finally managed what was just their 2nd win of 2016 by beating Chicago 2-0 (5/14). Rookie Femi Hollinger-Janzen (Benin) and USMNT player Lee Nguyen both found the back of the net for the home side, while a make shift back line managed the shutout. New England may have their regular defenders (Goncalves, Tierney) back in the XI come this Saturday but former FCD player(s), Je-Vaughn Watson and London Woodberry will be ready to play anywhere for Jay Heaps and the Rev’s. Rev’s fans will be hoping newly signed star DP Kei Kamara, can score his 1st goal for his new club. The Rev’s currently have three players on 2 goals, just 1 shy of the team leader, Diego Fagundez.
FC Dallas enter the match coming off a 2-0 home win versus the Seattle Sounders and are in 2nd place in the West with a record of 7-4-2 (23pts). FCD has not done very well on the road but has managed to win the last four meeting versus New England. Coach Oscar Pereja may be without Max Urruti and Jesse Gonzalez as both are listed as questionable. FCD are also missing young star defender Matt Hedges, who is still at least a couple weeks away from a potential return. Dallas did reinforce their defense and signed Agustin Jara this past Monday, May 16th. They’ll be relying on Michael Barrios (5 goals) and Fabian Castillo to power the attack, an attack that is ranked 3rd in the league.
