#MTLvNE -Red hot Rev’s head North to take on #IMFC

Just this past Sunday (9/13) the New England Revolution traveled to Toronto and took the three point home with them, beating Giovinco and company 3-1.  On Wednesday (9/16) they took 1st place from the N.Y. Red Bulls by beating them at Gillette Stadium 2-1.  This Saturday September 19th, the rampaging Rev’s will be playing at Stade Saputo to take on the Montreal Impact, kickoff is at 8pm.  The red hot New England club is going for it’s league high, 7th straight win and is undefeated in now it’s last eight matches.

So who’s the hottest player on the league hottest team you wonder?  Well that would be Diego Fagundez, who has goals in four straight matches now.  The twenty year old Uruguayan became the youngest player in MLS history to hit the 25 goals scored mark just weeks ago and will likely be making his 9th straight start versus Montreal.  He along with teammate Lee Nguyen, who has five assists in the last 3 games, are fueling  surging New England.

Montreal enter the match 6th in the Eastern Conference on 33 points (9-11-6), 13 points behind 1st place New England.  However, the Impact do have three games in hand meaning with a win they could potentially close the gap by twelve points (assuming they win all 3 games in hand that is).  Montreal is coming off a mid-week draw in San Jose (Highlights) where Oakville, Ontario native, Kyle Bekker (BC Eagles Product 2009-2012) was able to find an equalizer for a Montreal side that was down to ten men after Ambroise Oyongo was shown a straight red.  Previously the Impact had played the defending MLS Champions LA Galaxy, and were able to shutout the champs in LA and get a point for their efforts.  The Impact are entering the match undefeated in their last three matches and since new comer, Didier Drogba scored a hat trick in his MLS debut against the Chicago Fire.  This would be something I’m sure coach Jay Heaps and the New England defense is well aware of.  The 37 year old, Ivorian, superstar DP is tasked with powering the Impact into the MLS playoffs and beyond.  Expectation in Stade Saputo will be very high for this potential playoff preview match.
